America’s Heroes Group podcast, episode 308, discusses the resources available to those affected by mass shootings. Gigi Crowder, Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Contra Costa (NAMI), joins us to address how we can work to help people overcome mental health issues and trauma in the United States.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is one of the nation’s largest mental health organizations. NAMI aims to provide awareness, education, and services to those who need it across hundreds of communities in the United States.

“We [NAMI] provide non-clinical services everywhere. There’s 600 affiliates across the nation,” Crowder said. “Once you pick up the phone and call a NAMI affiliate, we put you in contact with the 1-800 number, which will allow individuals to pick out the services that would be most useful.”

America Heroes Group’s mission is to honor and respect the relentless commitment, ultimate sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of our retired Veterans and Active Service members thereby empowering and transforming their lives as they age in place and reacclimate back into society through identifying and positioning local and national communities as military friendly.
